For over 100 years in the 18th and 19th centuries, cannons, stoves and other products were turned out of the Cornwall Iron Furnace. Today, visitors can see the original structures and workings at this National Historic Landmark District.

Review:

A little off the beaten path, but well worth the stop. There is a small visitor's center with a museum, gift shop and orientation video to start, and then a guided tour of the actual furnace area. There are three stories of stairs to navigate during the tour, and only the visitor's center is climate controlled. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable, and we learned a great deal about early iron making practices.
